On November 21, 2013, while patrolling the Land of the Leopard National Park (Primorsky krai, Russian Far East), rangers discovered a dead male Amur tiger. The predator is believed to have been killed by poachers in a late night hunting incident, taking into account that a gunshot wound was found below its shoulder. A post-mortem examination will be performed soon in order to determine the cause of death.
The Global Environment Facility’s governing Council has approved $238 million for global environmental projects, including a ground-breaking project to protect Russia’s big cats – including the Amur tiger.
An Indonesian military tribunal has jailed two soldiers for illegally possessing two stuffed Sumatran tigers and a stuffed bear. Chief Sergeant Joko Rianto was given a two-month jail term and a £280 fine, with Chief Private Rawali receiving a three-month sentence and a £140 fine.

The carcass of a tiger was found in Kaziranga National Park last Saturday. According to park officials, the male tiger was covered in injury marks and the local area had pugmarks of other tigers which suggest the tiger died while fighting for territory.Read more
